Our 3rd Annual ARTumnal Gathering

Join us for our annual fundraising event, The ARTumnal Gathering! Last year's event was claimed by many to be the 'best burner party of the year!' Over 800 revelers and 100 performers joined together to celebrate a year of amazing art projects. This year, not only do we promise an amazing line up of performers, but we're collaborating with artists to create a completely immersive interactive art environment. We eagerly look forward to our stay on the playa as an opportunity to connect with our supporters, to inspire others to instigate interactive artworks in their hometown and to educate about our mission and our projects.

Expounding upon our wildly successful Elemental Interactions series, we take our discussion of 'The Elements' even further. This year we dig deeper, broadening our definition of elements to include radical, new forms of media and exciting forces of nature that inspire and inform the work of artists in our community.

Enjoy demos, talks and performances by artists, scientists, social historians and others in an informal, conversational setting.

Homouroboros Dedication Ceremony and Reception

Join burners, press and community members alike for the Black Rock Arts Foundation ribbon-cutting ceremony for Peter Hudson's Homouroboros installation. This will be the official kick-off for the 01SJ festival, and the beginning of an entire month of monkey business in downtown San Jose. The piece will be in Discovery Meadow from May 15th - June 15th, 2008.

Reception follows the ceremony, and we'll enjoy the piece at its best, in full dark, when we can fully appreciate the persistence of vision effect of the piece under the strobe lights.

Come by during the day, too (we'll have special daytime viewers available). Bring friends, family, kids, neighbors and co-workers! As always with BRAF's Civic Arts projects, the exhibition is free to the public.
