Join BRAF 2013 Grantee project Silent Lights in celebrating the unveiling of their work. Silent Lights is a series of sculptural gates that line a pedestrian pathway under the Brooklyn Queens Expressway. The gates are embedded with light and sound equipment: 2,400 LEDs and a microphone, controlled by an arduino mega microcontroller. The installation uses these to respond to sounds from the street and transform it into beautiful light patterns. Artists Brian Goggin and Dorka Keehn‘s newest piece, ”And My Room Still Rocks Like a Boat on the Sea (Caruso’s Dream),” is currently under construction at 55 9th St. in San Francisco. The Bay Lights Re-Lighting Ceremony

The Bay Lights turns one this March! After a full year of the piece illuminating the SF waterfront, Illuminate the Arts is leading an effort to keep it on the bridge and lit for at least 10 more years. Thursday March 6, 2014 will mark the exact one-year anniversary of the piece. At 7:00pm, the piece will go dark for 10 minutes. The Bay Lights Illuminate your Ride
