Urbanauts Closing Reception – explore the de Young Museum this Friday!

October 18, 2013 @ 6:00 pm - 8:45 pm

| Cost: Free

Join Black Rock Arts Foundation artists and de Young Artist Fellows Sean Orlando and Rebar for a second Friday night event at the museum.

Chart your own evening of art adventure and discover experiences and performances situated inside and around the grounds of the deYoung. To celebrate the closing of the Urbanauts fellowship and exhibit, we are mapping out and engaging some of our favorite and underutilized spaces at the deYoung. You’ll cross a threshold to embark on a roving sensory treasure hunt, set your own pace of discovery and regroup for a grand reunion.

A variety of performers and art experiences will inhabit these spaces. As a participant, you will receive a map and set off on your own journey of discovery. Participating artists and groups include:

Artist bios and more information about attending (parking, etc.) are available at the de Young museum site.

Bad Unkl Sistah will perform at the de Young museum as part of the Urbanauts closing event.

Bad Unkl Sista

This event is part of Urbanauts, Sean Orlando and Rebar’s ongoing de Young Fellowship project, which maps, examines, and documents unseen urban infrastructure to inform a series of conceptualized and fabricated objects based on the aesthetics and function of these hidden systems.
